Role Development Analysis of a Nursing supervisor Ansu Sam NURSING 314 CUNY YORK COLLEGE Dr. Renee Wright October 5, 2016 Nursing supervisors direct other staff nurses, hires and instructs new nurses, manage human resources and supervises patient care. They must oversee the complexity of each patient and must assign staff appropriately. They also support the patient and family members emotionally and psychologically. They must exhibit good communication, leadership, and supervisory skills. In addition to these, nursing supervisors need problem-solving, planning, delegating and teaching skills to be successful. Leadership Theory Leaders are those who empower, guide, directs, motivates, are willing to take risks and have the confidence to question the status quo. I recognized the nursing supervisor I interviewed as a democratic leader.
